A creative music workshop for ages 9–14.

A creative space for growing musicians
Write, Play, Perform is a small-group music workshop where youth explore songwriting, melody, rhythm, and ensemble playing in a supportive, encouraging environment. Through collaboration, guided exploration, and creative projects, students develop confidence while learning how to create and perform music together.
No prior music or songwriting experience is needed — just curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to try!
Meet your instructor
Carrie is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, performer, and experienced music educator based in Edmonton.
She has spent many years working with children and youth, creating welcoming spaces where students feel safe to explore, express themselves, and grow musically.
Her teaching style is playful, encouraging, and student-centred, with a strong belief that music should be joyful and accessible for everyone.

FAQ
Is the Youth Ediition more serious than the Kids Edition?
The Youth Edition goes a bit deeper into songwriting, ensemble playing, and musical independence, while still keeping things supportive, pressure-free, and super fun!
What if my child is between ages or unsure which group fits best?
That’s very common. If you’re unsure which group is the best fit, feel free to reach out — I’m happy to help you decide.
What should students bring to class?
A water bottle and their instrument if they’re learning one. Everything else will be provided.
What are the class sizes?
Group sizes are kept small — typically 6 to 8 students — so everyone gets support and plenty of time to participate.
What happens if students miss a class?
No worries. They can jump back in at the next session. Each week’s activities are flexible enough that no one will fall behind.
Is there a performance at the end?
Yes! We’ll finish the 6-week series with a relaxed open-stage sharing for friends and family. Students can perform solo, in small groups, or with the full ensemble — whatever feels right.
Where should we park, and which entrance do we use?
Parking is available behind Laurier Baptist Church, and the main entrance is also located at the back of the building. Please use this entrance for drop-off and pick-up. It’s well-marked and easy to access from the parking area.
