Frequently Asked Questions

Do students need musical experience to join?

Not at all! All levels are welcome, including complete beginners. Students can bring an instrument if they have one, but it’s optional — I’ll be providing a keyboard, ukulele, microphone and speakers, and a variety of rhythm instruments each week.

A water bottle and their instrument if they’re learning one. Everything else will be provided.

Group sizes are kept small — typically 6 to 8 students — so everyone gets support and plenty of time to participate.

Workshops are held at Laurier Baptist Church. Parking is available behind the church, and the main entrance is located at the back of the building. Please use this entrance for both drop-off and pick-up. It’s well marked and easy to access from the parking lot.

No worries. They can jump back in at the next session. Each week’s activities are flexible enough that no one will fall behind.

Yes! We’ll finish the 6-week series with a relaxed open-stage sharing for friends and family. Students can perform solo, in small groups, or with the full ensemble — whatever feels right.

Yes! Sibling discounts are automatically applied during registration. The first student pays full tuition, and additional siblings registered at the same time receive discounted pricing. No coupon code is required.

Hi, I'm Carrie,

Creativity is one of the greatest gifts we can nurture in a child.

Songwriting isn’t just about making music. It’s about discovering that your ideas matter—and realizing you have the ability to create something that didn’t exist before.

When children write a song, they learn to trust their instincts, solve problems, express their emotions, and see themselves as someone who has something unique to contribute. That confidence often reaches far beyond the music room.

For more than 10 years, I’ve had the joy of helping children, youth, and adults discover their creative voice through songwriting. As a professional singer-songwriter, performer, and educator, I’ve seen how a welcoming, encouraging environment can help students take creative risks, grow in confidence, and surprise themselves with what they’re capable of creating.

My goal isn’t to create perfect musicians—it’s to help every student discover the joy and confidence that comes from creating something uniquely their own.

“I made that. I have ideas worth sharing. I can create.”
